This week sees the commencement of the 55th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida. For four days, attendees will get the chance to see boats on display from different companies, as well as related equipment and merchandise. It's an opportunity for professionals to find out more about the direction of the industry, and Fisk Marine Insurance will be in attendance.

The official website of the show lists some of the special events that will be available for participants, including a series of sportsfishing seminars and a founder's dinner from the International Seakeepers Society. It will also be the site of the AquaZone demonstration by Nautical Ventures, which features different vehicles and live demonstrations.

Although the "super yachts" are a big draw, the event is about more than simply showing off luxury boats. The entire venue where the show is taking place, Hyatt Pier 66 Marina, has actually had to upgrade to accommodate the different vehicles that are appearing there. A press statement from the Show released last month listed some of the changes being made to make the marina more suitable for all of the crafts.

This statement quotes Kevin Quark of LXR Luxury Marinas on the work being done to accommodate the Show and its participants.

"The contractors working on this project bring years of marina construction experience and will deliver a state-of-the-art final product on schedule," he said. "The first phase of the project was delivered on time and we anticipate the same for the final phase of construction."
